Established on September 10, 2002, the Law Study Society is committed to building a platform for sharing, exchanging and practicing law, and it is aimed to carry forward the spirit of law, enhance the concept of the legal system, improve legal literacy, and popularize legal knowledge. As an academic society, it pays attention to academic research and commit itself to building a platform for exchanging, sharing and practicing law, so as to find a perfect match between law and life. At the same time, it also give consideration to students’ interests, so that all the students who are interested in law can get together and organize and participate in interesting activities together to share their feelings. So far, the Society has been awarded the title of "Top Ten Associations" in Beijing Normal University for 16 consecutive years.
Academic Activities
It holds a reading party for classic works of law, selects classic books of law, carries out reading exchange activities, invites famous scholars to explain and comment on them, so as to understand the saying that "a man is known by his poetry and his books". Besides, it holds Beijing Legalist Forum, leading the students to listen to the cutting-edge academic ideas and practice of law, as well as "variability and invariability of the General Principles of Civil Law". In the contract translation competition, it helps students truly appreciate the beauty of the integration of law and English, cultivate an international perspective, and improve their legal English ability.
Practical Activities
It holds the Fujen Autumn Walk, leading the students to listen to the voice of Fujen Catholic University, feel its quietness and simplicity and experience its vicissitudes. It holds the External Field of Constitution Day to convey the content and spirit of the Constitution, show respect for the Constitution in colorful activities, display the elegant demeanor of students majoring in law, and show the power of legal construction. It holds moot court competition, in which the students debate with each other to feel the professional characteristics and lay a foundation for their career.
Quality Activities
It holds Joint University Debate Competition, in which only 8 universities in Beijing participated at the beginning and later 16 universities in Beijing participated. Now, its size is further expanded. This activity enables students to have close contact with the debaters from top law schools, including Law Schools of Tsinghua University, Peking University and China University of Political Science and Law, and enjoy the feast of outstanding debates.
Highlights
It aims to build the warmest home of Law Study Society nest, and it is the only society that sends gift packages to all participating in the military training. At the same time, it also holds the assembly, the Mid-Autumn Festival Moon Cake Party and sends New Year and Christmas blessings.
