To solve the problems of resume preparation and interview skills, enhance comprehensive interview ability, interview skill training was held in room 2013 of teaching building II on October 22.
This training involved over 50 students and was provided in the form of HR lecturing, one-to-one Q&A and leaderless group discussion. The activity was wrapped up in the students’ earnest study of skills and active participation in discussion.
The speakers of this training include PENG Yang, recruitment director of Pfizer, one of the Fortune Global 500 companies. Mr. PENG instructed students to tell about their stories in the interview and stand out from many applicants with clear logic and humorous languages.
Mr. PENG firstly instructed students to make a good resume from the perspective of professional HR. He pointed out that a qualified resume should at least include education background, well-grounded internship, presentable competition results, extracurricular activities and research experience related to the job and personalized self-evaluation. Moreover, he suggested that students look for highlights from contents layout and language organization and other details. Finally, he introduced the contents and the way to highlight in an excellent resume with “STAR” law.
Next, Mr. PENG introduced matters needing attention in the interview process including information involved in self-introduction and question raising methods of interviewers. He explained the questions that HR may follow in the interview and matters needing attention from students with vivid cases.
Next, he shared with students his experience about leaderless group discussion. He held that it’s important to position yourself in the group discussion based on your characteristics and give play to your own strength in a proper position so as to stand out from the discussion.
At last, to enable students to better apply the acquired skills in interviews, students had leaderless group discussion during which, Mr. PENG recorded the advantages of each student and places needing improvement before giving targeted instruction on students.
This training combined skills explanation and practices and offered targeted instruction based on problems of students, thus winning unanimous praise from students and contributing to the enhancement of employment competitiveness and success in autumn interview of students.
